Why Learn The Piano?
Education Enhancement
The same neural pathways involved in reading and math studies are involved in piano studies. Reading, math and piano studies require the recognition of abstract symbols and the ability to give them meaning. In addition, the language of piano music has no words, and students learn to communicate through sound, using body movement. Piano studies also require bringing eye-hand [and foot!] coordination to a new level. Students learn to focus more and more intently, and develop self-discipline and time management skills as they practice at home.
Creativity & Self Expresion
Music invites us to express our own individual personalities, life experiences, emotions and style. We can learn to compose our own music or put our own personal stamp on a piece of music that is unlike any others’ interpretation.
Collaboration With Others
Music study can be wonderfully fulfilling individual pursuit, but for many musicians, there comes a time when music begs to be shared. Participating with other musicians to make music as a group, playing for family or in a recital, or putting our talent to work for the good of others can be remarkably fulfilling.

Playing the Piano is SO MUCH FUN!
What I Offer
30 Min Lesson Lessons
Students will receive classical training through a fun, high-quality, concept-based curriculum that includes note reading, theory, technique, and ear training based on each concept. Skills are reinforced in each successive concept, leading to growing mastery, confidence, and a fun repertoire of pieces as students advance. Companion books featuring contemporary, seasonal, jazz, or classical pieces can be added at each level, depending on student interest. My ultimate goal as a teacher is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to independently search for extra pieces, confidently sightread and learn them, transforming piano playing into a joyful, lifelong passion that travels with them through time.
45 Minute Lessons
In addition to all of the training of a 30 Minute Lesson, students will have the choice of either adding additional curriculum studies to their weekly lesson, resulting in faster progress through their levels, or adding enrichment pieces to their studies, deepening their experience in each level. Students may also choose a little bit of both. Students will need to add extra practice time to their schedule to ensure that they keep up with the extra studying.
60 Minute Lessons
In addition to all of the training of a 30 or 45 Minute Lesson, advancing students will have the opportunity to study longer, more challenging pieces. Advancement through their levels will remain steady, while there will also be opportunities to grow as musicians by tackling pieces they may have always dreamed of playing, or perhaps have recently discovered. Students will need to add extra practice time to their schedule to ensure that they keep up with the extra studying.
